International Dark Sky Week is Here! Stargazing in Bequia
Let’s celebrate the night! But, literally.
Perfectly hidden by large mountains from its lush volcanic terrains, St. Vincent and the Grenadines is the perfect place to commemorate International Dark Sky Week, April 2 - 8.
The week is a worldwide celebration to build awareness about the harmful effects of light pollution and the importance of the global nighttime environment. In St. Vincent, low and lowly lit areas of the Windward and Leeward coast offer an amazing view, with glistening gems in the skies. On a full moon night, midnight blue bounces from fruit and palm trees, and white ocean waves, filling all those who look up with glee.
The Bortle Scale, a map that determines the Dark Sky and highlights light-polluted areas, shows that Hypnosis Haus is perfectly nestled on the hill in Friendship Bay, Bequia. Which provides minimal encounter with low traffic and neighborly lights, and makes stargazing effortless. The Milky Way and constellations in its belt is visible with your naked eye—and, we love apps like Stellarium, which helps confirm clusters in the sky.
At Hypnosis Haus, your stay amenities include access to a Celestron - NexStar 127SLT Computerized Telescope, so the sky comes to you. You’ll be in awe!
